Removing the Old Cylinder:

A. Locate the Mortise Plate: Identify this plate on the door’s edge where the door meets the frame.

B. Unscrew the Cylinder: Locate the screw on the mortise plate that secures the cylinder. Use a suitable screwdriver to carefully unscrew and keep the screw safely for later use.

Extracting the Cylinder:

A. Insert the Key: Fully insert the original key into the cylinder.

B. Align the Cam: Rotate the key to align the cam with the body of the cylinder, ensuring it can be removed.

C. Remove the Cylinder: With the cam properly aligned, gently pull the cylinder out from its housing.

• Open the BLACK X App.
• click on ‘install a new lock’.
• Name Your Lock or choose a description.
• Create a ‘Home’ to associate with the lock.
• Choose the ‘Home’ for your lock.
• While in “Discovering Nearby Locks” mode, use the Allen key to press the connect button on the BLACK X device.
• When a pop-up for the correct lock appears, click “Connect” to proceed.
• Congratulations! You’ve successfully connected your first lock.

An eKey is a digital key that lets you grant secure access to your BLACK X lock. As the lock owner, you control who can enter, when, and for how long. Sending an eKey is simple and can be managed entirely from the app.

How to Send an eKey

1. Open the BLACK X app and select your lock.
2. Tap the key icon and choose “send eKey”.
3. Select the access period of the autorised access and complete the required fields.
4. Tap Send.

After sending, you can choose whether the user receives the eKey via email or SMS. This message includes the instructions and their eKey.

What Does the Authorized User Receive?

When an eKey is created, the authorized user will receive two updates:

1. Instructions for downloading the app
   This email includes a link to the BLACK X app in the App Store or Google Play, along with login credentials.
   Note: This email is sent only to first-time users.
2. Notification that the eKey is ready
   The user will receive either an email or an SMS (depending on the admin’s choice). This confirms that the digital key has been issued and linked to the user’s account.

Once the user signs in, the owner’s lock will automatically appear in the app. From that moment, the user can lock and unlock the door using their smartphone.

Important Notes

• If the user who received the eKey tries to create a new account after the eKey has already been issued, the app will display a message that the email address already exists.
• In this case, the user should log in with the same email address and the temporary password provided in the email. They can later update the password in the app for their own security.
• If the email was not received, please ask the user to check their spam/junk folder.

In the Home Settings, you can personalize your “Home” by updating its name and photo. Just follow these steps:

1. Open the BLACK X App.
2. Tap on the lock associated with your chosen Home.
3. Tap on the Home photo — you’ll see two options:
   • Change the photo of your home – Select an image from the app’s gallery, your personal gallery, or take a new photo using your camera. Just click on this option, choose your preferred source, and update the picture.
   • Change Name – Enter a new name for your Home and tap Save.

Passcodes are an essential part of managing access and security with the BLACK X smart lock system. The app offers flexible options to generate and customize passcodes for various needs.

The length of the generated code is automatically determined by the system algorithm, based on the expiration period and the complexity of the recurrence. Shorter expiration periods result in shorter codes, while longer periods produce longer codes. The length typically ranges from 6 to 11 digits.

When setting up a code, you can select the “Custom” option to specify a validity period or choose an unlimited duration. Additionally, you have the flexibility to create a code of your choice, ranging from 4 to 9 digits — ideal for using a memorable number.

How to Create a Passcode

To create a code, follow these simple steps:

1. 1. 1. Open the BLACK X app.
      2. Go to the Main Menu.
      3. Select Keypad passcode.
      4. Choose the desired lock for approval.
      5. Click Generate Code.
      6. From the top bar, select the desired period length. Note: You can choose Custom to manually create a code.
      7. Enter the required information.
      8. Click Set a Passcode to complete the configuration.
      9. Once the code is generated, you can choose to notify the user via SMS or Email by entering their contact details, or click complete to finish.

Verification Code Timing

If you’re experiencing delays in receiving the verification code via email, don’t worry! The 45-second countdown you see is just the waiting time before you can request a new code—it doesn’t mean your current code is expiring. Your original verification code remains valid for one hour, giving you plenty of time to enter it once it arrives.
