Troubleshooting Guide for BLACK X xKey

Activation Issues

 

The xKey is not activating

Here are several options that can be examined:

  • Ensure the plastic tab is fully removed from the battery compartment.
  • Confirm that the outer cover is securely attached by pressing it firmly into place.
  • If the xKey does not activate, replace the CR2032 battery with a new one and try again.

Pairing & Connectivity Issues

 

The xKey is not pairing with the BLACK X App

Here are several options that can be examined:

  • Ensure Bluetooth is turned on in your mobile device settings during the pairing process.
  • Activating Pairing Mode:
    • Open the BLACK X App and navigate to the lock you want to pair the xKey with.
    • In the Settings menu, select xKey > Add xKey, then proceed with the pairing process.
    • Activate the BLACK X xKey by pressing and holding the unlock button for 5 seconds.
    • Select the relevant xKey from the list to complete pairing.
    • If pairing fails, restart the BLACK X App and try again.
  • Ensure the battery is properly installed and active. If needed, replace it with a new CR2032 battery before attempting to pair.

Unlocking Issues

The xKey is not unlocking the smart lock

Here are several options that can be examined:

  • Ensure the xKey is successfully paired with the BLACK X App and the smart lock. 🔗 Refer to Step 3
  • Check if the battery is properly installed and has sufficient charge. If needed, replace it with a new CR2032 battery. 🔗 Refer to Step 2
  • Verify that the xKey is within Bluetooth range of the lock (maximum 33 feet / 10 meters). 🔗 Refer to Step 4
  • If the issue persists, remove the xKey from the app and re-pair it. 🔗 Refer to Step 3
  • Check the battery level: Open the BLACK X app, select your lock, go to the lock settings, tap “Remote,” and look for “Battery Level.”

Maintenence 

 

How to replace the battery in the xKey

  1. Open the outer cover downward, to detach it from the base. Note: A tool may be required to apply additional pressure for opening.
  2. Insert a CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  3. Secure the outer cover onto the base by pressing it firmly into position
    until it clicks securely.

 

How to delete an xKey

Managing your BLACK X smart lock is simple. Follow these steps to quickly delete an xKey due to loss or reassignment.

Note: If you have purchased the Wi-Fi Bridge , Start directly from Step 2.

  1. Ensure you are within 10 feet (3 meters) of the lock.
  2. Open the app and go to the Settings Menu.
  3. Select xKey.
  4. Choose the lock the xKey is paired with.
  5. Select the xKey User Profile.
  6. Tap Delete and confirm the deletion.
  7. The xKey has now been successfully deleted from the lock.
